| La Nouba is a fascinating spectacular showcased
at the Cirque du Soleil theatre at Downtown Disney
West Side. It was developed by Cirque du Soleil exclusively
for this venue. The show is presented in a state-of-the-art
venue - an inspiring cylindrical structure with metal
towers soaring to a height of 160 feet.
The concept behind Cirque du Soleil was conceived
by a group of street performers in Montreal, Quebec,
in the early eighties with a desire to inspire, astound
and transport patrons to a new, unearthly world. The
name La Nouba is derived from the French phrase
“faire la nouba,” which translated means to party or
to live it up. These words completely reflects the show.
La Nouba features acrobats, dancers, gymnasts and clowns
in a combination of theater and circus.
The amazing feats of strength, balance and cunning together
with special lighting and costumes make this show really
impressive.
The performance lasts 90 minutes. Original "new-age"
music is performed by a live orchestra, which housed
in two multi-level towers on either side of the stage.
La Nouba uses dramatic lighting, and sets and
stages that move and evolve in different ways than the
other Cirque du Soleil shows.
